Privacy Policy
A legal disclaimer
We are committed to protecting the privacy of all our users, especially the young writers who share their voices on our platform. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we keep it safe.
Information We Collect
We only collect the minimum amount of information necessary to run our website and publish articles safely.
-
For Writers Under 13: We collect only a first name (or pen name), age, and a preferred contact method (such as a parent or guardian's email address or phone number).
-
For Writers Aged 13 to 21: We collect a first name, last name, age, and a preferred contact method (their own email/phone or a parent’s email/phone).
-
For Newsletter Subscribers (Adults & Students): We collect only your email address.
How We Display Information Publicly
To maintain a safe environment, we strictly limit what information is visible to the public on our website:
-
Writers Under 13: Articles will only display the writer's first name (or chosen pen name) and age (e.g., "Alex, Age 10"). Last names and direct contact details are never published.
-
Writers 13 and Older: Articles will display the writer's full name and age, unless the student explicitly requests to use a pen name or first name only.
Analytics and Website Cookies
We use standard analytical tools provided by Wix and Google Analytics to help us understand how people use our website (e.g., counting how many people visit a page or which articles are the most popular).
These tools collect non-personal data, such as internet browser types or general geographic locations (like a city), through cookies. They do not collect names, email addresses, or private personal data from our readers or writers. You can choose to disable cookies in your internet browser settings at any time.
How We Share and Store Data
-
No Data Selling: We will never sell, rent, or trade your personal information or contact details to third parties or advertisers.
-
Data Security: Your information is stored securely behind the platform infrastructure provided by Wix. We only use this data to review article submissions, communicate with writers/parents, and send our newsletter.
Parental Rights and Data Management
We believe parents and guardians should have complete control over their children's online presence. At any time, a parent or a student writer can request to:
-
See what personal information we have stored.
-
Change how a name is displayed on an article.
-
Permanently delete an article or any associated contact information from our database.
To make any of these requests, or ask any questions, please contact us directly at our official email address: stuDENTtalks@gmail.com. We will process your request promptly.
